Tooth Tales and Edible Extras!
I'm so excited! Today at Occupational Therapy our OT discovered that Lily FINALLY has a tooth coming in! Yep! It's in the back on the right side of her mouth! I ran my finger along the gums in her mouth and I could feel a sharp little point sticking out. So cool! So I am sure very soon that little tooth will poke it's head through. It does seem rather strange that it is a molar instead of one of her front teeth, but we'll take it. I guess there is no rhyme or reason to how Ds kids teeth come in? Correct people if I am wrong. I am just so excited too at the possibilities this will give her for eating. She is doing really well with eating by mouth. She consumes about 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of Stage 2 baby food and cereal 3 times a day (breakfast, lunch, dinner). She is actually opening her mouth to accept the food more readily now. It is so exciting for me to watch her finally catch on to this. It just took some perseverance and patience on my part and consistency too before she started to show signs of improvement. Well, now we can move on to chunky foods eventually and also the sippy cup! Yeah Lily!

That is so great!! Joel's teeth came in a different order than usual too. He almost has all of his teeth - just a few more to go!
I'm so glad Lily is eating so much better now! I was glad when Joel got some of his molars too - I didn't have to worry so much about chunky food!
Wonderful, so glad she is eating better, I have heard children with ds do get teeth at different times (W's came in in order) How long does she have to have the mickey button after is totally oral?
Yep, Jax teeth are coming in all weird. He now does have his 4 front teeth. But molars came in first. What size t-shirts do you want? Email me at laceyrugg@hotmail.com
Great news! Luke was 15 months before he got his first tooth, and he has cross-cut too. Apparently more common in the DS population, having said that, my daughter cross-cut too, hehe.
Yay for teeth!! Lily got her first on July 4th and the next about a month later. I don't think anymore have come in, but I'm scared to check...she really bites down on your finger when you try to check...lol.
So good to hear that things are going well in the eating department. I knew she was going to do great! You just needed to get that sweet little girl out of the hospital. Look at her go!! I wish our Lilys could meet...I think they would have a fun playdate!
Congrats to Lily! You will have a mouthful of teeth in no time!
