Well, I was going to take some candid shots of my girls this morning and post them for all to see but of course went to turn on my camera and it said to change the batteries and I don't have back-up. :( Oh well! So now you get to listen to me blab for awhile. Let's see what is new and exciting here. I am busy getting ready for Liliana's Baby Dedication/Birthday Party. One would think that party planning and preparations are supposed to be fun and they are except when you have a ton of cleaning to do. My house is in a bit of chaos! We have been doing some remodeling around here over the past few months since Lily came home from the hospital so certain rooms have been neglected. Also I just haven't cleaned as well as I should. I hate cleaning so now I am forced to do major cleaning. Not easy with two kids and Lily with all her medical issues.
Well, we only have about 2 and a half weeks left and Liliana will be going in for her G-tube surgery. I have been trying to prepare myself mentally for it but it is hard. I know it is a very common procedure and Lily will really only be in pain the first night after placement. They will give her morphine for pain to which I know she will probably need more. Anyways, they called yesterday to go over all the details so now it is just a waiting game. I am trying to just focus on the party and Baby Dedication and all the fun of that and try not to worry about the surgery. The GI doc did say that there may be a slight chance that when she goes in with the endoscope to find an appropriate place to put the tube she might not be able to find the right spot. If this is the case then Lily would have to come back in and the surgeons would have to make a much bigger cut in her abdomen and open her up to find an appropriate spot. I pray that all goes well the first time. We have been down the surgery road before and have not been so fortunate. I told the doctor we are going on vacation around the 4th of July and that I didn't want anything stopping that from happening. WE NEED A BREAK! Especially Bill, sometimes I think he is going to explode if he doesn't relieve some stress. We also haven't been on a vacation for over 2 years. She assured me that if there was a problem that they would not do surgery until after we came back from vacation which would be sometime in July. I certainly do not want to wait that long since we are sooooo done with this NG tube.
On another note, my theme for Liliana's party is teddy bears. The plates and napkins I got have little teddy bears on them so I thought it would be appropriate. Also when Lily was in the hospital she got a lot of teddy bears. Every time a child has an open-heart surgery they give them a teddy bear in the PICU. So I am going to use some of those bears to help decorate my house. My aunt in Alabama is going to make an outfit for the Build-A-Bear she got that will match the outfit the bear is wearing on the plates and napkins! Sooooo cool! Well, I better get my butt up and start cleaning. Have a great day!

I will be praying for Liliana's upcoming surgery. I will pray that it will go well and that the doctors will find the perfect spot to put the G-tube.
I hope in the mean time you are able to enjoy the party planning that you are doing. How exciting to be planning Liliana's first birthday!
Happy cleaning - I hope you were able to get a lot done today!
I love the idea for little bears! Very cute!
I'll be praying the surgery goes well. Can I add you to the prayer chain at church too?
If you need help cleaning or watching the kids let me know, I am right around the corner! Hope the party and dedication are fun! Don't worry about the surgery - everything will be fine! The g-tube is so much better than the NG!
Good luck with the party....and I am sure Liliana's surgery will go just fine. Hope everything else is going well! I have probably asked this before, but do you go to any of the play groups or mom groups now....or do you still have to stay in a lot with Lily?
Oh Kim, you are going to have such a wonderful party, think of all of your friends and family supporting you and Miss L. I know that is has got to be hard to prepare for another surgery but you have lots of prayers going up for your family and little Miss L. Havea great weekend
Are you on The Upside of Downs network? If not...go to theupsideofdowns.org and on the left oyu will see family network...sign up for that and you can talk to all of the families on there and they post events and whatnot. It is a really great site. I currently attend the Medina and Strongsville playgroups. I know there is an eastside one as well. The mom's night out...there is one in Independence which I have been to and then one in Medina which I have also been to. Sign up for that network and we can talk more on there : )
Hello, why did I not have your blog on my friends? I see your comments all the time and just thought you were on there. Duh, I'm so sorry I've neglected you. The g-tube surgery is cake but I can see your hesitation after open heart and everything else they go through. Jax only fussed for a few hours after surgery, but as soon as we moved his IV out of the hand he sucked then he was fine.
